Sometimes it is good to leave the city life behind and indulge in some nature and outdoor activities. That’s why in August 2012, I spent a weekend with friends in East Java. On our program was a volcano (yes, again… there are so many!), Mount Bromo. It is beautifully situated in the middle of a vast plain called “Sea of Sand” and is part of a National Park. Waking up at 3.15am on Saturday in order to be in position for the stunning sunrise is definitely worth it. And combined with a relaxing Sunday, it makes a picture perfect weekend escape.
